7:56 pm - What do you do with all of your mail??

I have been actively involved with mail art for at least the last 10 years - lots of my received mail art is displayed on a bulletin board in my studio, but many pieces of mail have ended up in boxes as i move from place to place.

I'm ready to move again, and am shocked at how much mail art I have. boxes and boxes - in fact a whole closet full of boxes of mail art!

I'm torn on what to do with it - I have such an attachment to it, but I am ready to live as simplistic as possible - which means getting rid of STUFF.

What do you all do with your received mail art??

Just thought I would share. You can preorder the most awesome CrapHound. It's very useful for collage art, zines, rubber stamping, and general craftiness. I hope this is okay to post. CrapHound is a fundraiser to keep our local independent zine/comic/book store here in Portland, OR open. This zine is really awesome and I've used previous issues for mail art ALOT.

11:31 pm

i am in need of help
i am looking for a way to transfer a photo (photocopy) to fabric
the fabric is a kind of thin smooth lining and i do not want it to alter the thickness/stiffness of the fabric
the fabric is not going to be used as clothing or anything like that
it is for a flag type project
so i can use some sort of chemical
the size of the image is roughly 5x7" perhaps a bit larger (6x9"?)
if i had my old photocopier running i would just run it through that
but i am out of toner, boo.
i am not experienced in photo transfers
(i am posting this to a few places)
any ideas?

2:11 pm - Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" - Yulia Timoshenko

Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" and a new sculpture group "Christ's Appearance to the Apostles".

Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" and a new sculpture group "Christ's Appearance to the Apostles". It has taken 15 years for him to create the project with the Twelve Apostles.

In his sculptures Nicolai Shmatko decided to deviate from the Bible apostles known to us. "In this sculpture there are our contemporaries, people who live near us. Only Jesus Christ is an imaginary person as nobody can pretend to be like him. We can also see Peter, his favourite disciple, doubting Thomas and Judas. Among the known Bible persons I have embodied myself and my sons"- Nicolai Shmatko retells.

http://www.kingofmarble-shmatko.com/engver/p1_project_en.html The preliminary cost of this sculpture is 1.5 mln. Euro.

The other sculpture of the Nicolai Shmatko "Ukrainian Aurora" has taken him half a year. He retells about it, "Aurora is a morning star which lights up the road of travelers and wayfarers. I decided to accent attention on this and tried to find a woman who can personify national pathos but I could not for a long time. And finally I found national Ukrainian colouring in Julia Timoshenko, Prime Minister of Ukraine".

Nicolai Shmatko estimates this sculpture in 500 thousand Euro.

The sculptor noted that he is a non-party man and has not any political sympathies to Julia Timoshenko but her image helped him to create our contemporary Aurora.
